Meet Herman Wijffels

This is a speaker for Wisdom in Business only.

My view is that the current crisis in its multiformity, in its depth also, is not soluble by restoration of the old. The other method is indeed the way of innovation. As far as I am concerned, it is in its context social and ecological renewal as the basis for a vital and sustainable society and economy.

— Herman Wijffels during the Modderman Lecture 2010

Economist and Politician Herman H.F. Wijffels has held many positions during is formal career. Most notably that of chairman of the board of directors of Rabobank, and that of mediator for the formation of a new Dutch government back in 2006, leading negotiations between CDA, PvdA and ChristenUnie.

Since 2009, Herman Wijffels is professor in Sustainability and Societal Change at the Utrecht Sustainability Institute (USI) of Utrecht University. This chair focusses on which quality of life is possible given the ecological boundaries. In 2011 he founded the Sustainable Finance Lab, which develops ideas to contribute to a stable and robust financial sector, which in return, contributes to an economy at the service of humanity that does not exhaust our living environment.

Herman Wijffels will be sharing his insights on how a place of silence brings you home, ignites your creativity and let you make wise decisions.

To get you in the right state of mind, we will start with a guided meditation. The Q&A, lead by Maarten van Huijstee,  will focus on how meditation and a flow state can drive innovation, thoughtful leadership, and meaningful success in your workplace.

"It’s time to reshape our society based on ancient techniques and new technology."

– Maarten van Huijstee
